Melinda Wiant, MHC-LP, CASAC-T

Therapist in New York

Melinda works with adults navigating trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. She has clinical experience in an inpatient setting supporting individuals with complex needs and focuses on the underlying emotional and relational patterns that drive them.

Melinda takes a person-centered, trauma-informed, and relational approach. She helps clients understand how early experiences, family dynamics, and relationship roles shape how they think, feel, and respond today. She creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can slow down, feel understood, and begin to make sense of what’s underneath. Her work integrates motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) when it fits the client, while emphasizing insight, emotional awareness, and authenticity. She has extensive experience working with diverse and multicultural populations and approaches her work with strong cultural humility.

Melinda also brings a background working with families within developmental and educational systems, informing her understanding of ADHD, autism, and related differences. She believes therapy is a collaborative process and works alongside clients to support meaningful healing and lasting change.
